Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works Limited KS&EW is a Pakistani government defense contractor and military corporation located in West Warf, Karachi, Sindh.
KSEW Limited is the oldest and only shipyard in Pakistan, providing shipbuilding, ship repair, and general heavy engineering equipment. It has built several cargo ships, oil tankers, tug boats, support vessels, landing craft, ships, and submarines for the Pakistan Navy.
It also builds and repairs for a wide range of customers in Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, Karachi Port Trust, Port Qasim Authority, and the private sector in Pakistan. All shares of the company are owned by the Government of Pakistan which is under the administrative control of the Ministry of Defence.
It was established in the mid-fifties as a project of Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) and was later incorporated in 1957 as a public limited company with its board of directors and managing director.
It is equipped with a large shipbuilding hall, three-block fabrication areas, three shipbuilding berths, two dry docks, a machine shop, grit blasting, and a painting facility, a 7881-ton capacity ship lift, and transfer system, and 13 parking stations.
